Engineering Research Programs

Our Engineering Research Mentorship Program consists of mentors from Brown University, Caltech, University College London and more.

Our students have gained admissions to Ivy League and selective universities such as Duke University, Brown University, New York University and more. Our Mentorship Program allows students to explore projects in Engineering research discipline and prepares them for college-level research.

To protect students’ privacy, all names have been changed.

Xavier Wu

Residence: Shanghai
School: Shanghai International School
Intended major: Electrical & Mechanical Engineering
Age during program: Grade 11

Xavier is very passionate about electrical and mechanical engineering. He has a lot of ideas, however there was a need for him to focus on the main relevant factors contributing to his design paper.

Through the program, he took part in the International Association of Societies of Design Research Conference 2019 competition with his final research paper, and has received a positive evaluation and letter of recommendation from the professor.

His university acceptance includes UChicago Full Merit Scholarship, Caltech, UC Davis Regents Scholarship USD30K, UC Irvine Directors Scholarship USD20K, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego USD5K.

School: Shanghai World Foreign Language Middle School
Intended major: Computer Science
Age during program: Grade 10

Warren has huge interest is achieving artificial intelligence through his game concept. During the course of the program, he had to overcome any overwhelming feelings of potentially creating and using his own graphics.

Through the program, he has received a positive evaluation and letter of recommendation from the professor.

His university acceptance includes UC Irvine, Penn State University.

School: Foxcroft School
Intended major: Civil Engineering
Age during program: Grade 12

Based on her past experience working in a stream monitoring project conducted by her high-school team for an environmental NGO (Goose Creek), Emma would like to work on a multidisciplinary project which has both engineering and financial aspects.

Through the program, she has received a positive evaluation and letter of recommendation from the professor.

Residence: Chennai, India
School: Chettinad Vidyasharam
Intended major: Mechanical Engineering
Age during program: Grade 11

Aafiya is in the top 15% of his class. He excels in Physics and technology courses in school, and he is proficient in Python. He has also recently completed a Physics research mentorship with a mentor at Georgia Tech. His aim in this mentorship program is to work on a project related to design for manufacturing.

Through the program, he has received recommendation letters from his mentor.

Intended major: Aerospace Engineering
Age during program: Grade 12

Adheesh has won over 40 state and regional academic awards, as well as the AP Scholar Award with distinction, and the Cambridge Learner 'Top of the World' award for his environmental management work. He has also taken on summer courses and independent studies related to remote sensing and aerospace engineering.

Through the program, he has received a positive evaluation.

Jasper’s primary academic interests are physics and engineering. He is a member of his school's aerospace club and he also recently competed in the BBHO physics competition with a strong performance.
