Hanita Palanichamy is a Grade 10 student who is interested to take up Computer Science in University. She worked on a healthcare app development project in her mentorship program.

In the top 5% of her class, Hanita is passionate about AI and machine learning in health care. She’s student council representative and was recently given the award for highest academic achievement in her grade. She has earned certificates for both game and app development. She is particularly interested to work on a Healthcare App Development project and her current prototype focuses on diabetic patients.

What challenges did she face?

  • Hanita is programming Python language beginner. Nevertheless, her aim in this program is to work on a software project. She worked really hard and faced some challenges getting her app codes to work right.


How did our program help her?

  • She learnt about decision-making flowchart and to chart out all possible scenarios. She also learnt to use Figma for the app design process. With extra coaching on the codes, Hanita managed to design an app.
  • She learnt the different machine learning algorithms such as K-means clustering and applied them in Python.

An Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Faculty Network Member of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences. He holds a number of certificates in education, networking and IT, including Cisco’s CCNP, CCNA, and ITE Instructor Trainer.

She was very motivated and learned everything that was needed to achieve her goals. I like her motivation about developing a useful app that can impact lives.
