Biology Student

Sadhana Ganatra
She is a rising 12th grade student from Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School. She is interested in a Biology research project.

Sadhana is at the top of her class with a GPA 96/100. She has taken an advanced Biology course in grade 11 and will take another in grade 12. She is also a leader in her school’s volunteering organization called Create Markham which focuses on improving her local environment.

What challenges did she face?

  • To determine which research articles to use, how to set up the boundaries around what to include and what not to, and how to use the boundaries to formulate an answer.

How did our program help her?

  • Through the mentorship program, Sadhana learnt better time management and communication skills.
  • Sadhana learnt to develop questions and hypothesis, read through numerous research articles, synthesized the work and wrote her research report.

Matched mentor

The mentor is currently an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at New York University and an Assistant Professor of Biology at Dominican College. Prior to this, she worked for several years as a research scientist at the Nathan Kline Institute. She has authored and co-authored several national and international publications and also working as a reviewer for reputed professional journals.

Sadhana was incredibly pleasant to work with- very eager to learn and be present for each session. Her eager and humble personality made it a real joy for me. She also was great at keeping the discussion during sessions going.
