Art and Design Programs

Our art and design program students have worked with mentors from Berklee College of Music, NYU Tisch, Syracuse University and more. Throughout the mentorship programs, they received valuable feedback on their projects and research.

Tanya Lei

Residence: Shanghai, China
School: Shanghai American School
Intended Major: Music Composition
Age during program: Grade 10

Tanya enjoys music and she plays several musical instruments – guitar, piano and flute. She also takes private classes in music theory, jazz piano, and ear training. She is an amateur in music recording and her goal in this mentorship program is to find a mentor to guide her in professional music composition and recording.

Through the program, she has received a positive evaluation and letter of recommendation from the professor.

Her university acceptance includes Berklee College of Music.

Intended major: Media & Advertising
Age during program: Grade 11

Head of Marketing for Girl’s Power Organization in school, Jane Ho is passionate about creating compelling advertisements through video and social media. She has participated in Columbia Summer Program in advertising and photography. With her mentor from NYU, she was able to achieve her goals and more!

Through the program, she has received a positive evaluation and letter of recommendation from the professor.

Her transfer university acceptance includes UIUC, UC Santa Cruz, PSU, UF, FSU, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Davis

Intended major: Music Composition
Age during program: Undergraduate, 19 years old

Currently undertaking a BA in Music, she enjoys songwriting and singing. For the past six years, she has taken on roles as a band organizer, vocalist and songwriter.

Through the program, she has received a positive evaluation and letter of recommendation from the professor.

Her university acceptance includes NYU Steinhardt and Brooklyn College of Music.

Intended major: Music Therapy
Age during program: Grade 12

Saisha is in the top 20% of her class at her music conservatory in India. She has been studying western music for two years and Indian classical music for over five years and she is an intermediate-level reader of music.

Through the program, she has composed a 36-bar song for oboe and piano and learnt a lot about music composition .

Lisa Lim is enthusiastic and has great interest in art and design programs and projects, specifically sound creation and sound design. She has taken the next step to further think about incorporating sound design into the business aspects for her career in the future.
