Program Outline
Week 1:
Week 2:
The student will conduct a site analysis, evaluating the physical, environmental, and functional aspects of a space – which could be their bedroom, a shop in a mall, or an office space they intern at. They will draft an initial layout plan, focusing on optimal space utilization and user comfort.
Week 3:
Week 4:
The student will create detailed sketches, 3D models, or renderings using tools like SketchUp, AutoCAD, or Revit. They will refine their design to ensure a balance of aesthetics and practicality. The mentor will complete a mid-point evaluation to be given to the student.
Week 5:
The student will explore lighting techniques and their role in shaping mood and functionality in spaces. They will integrate lighting solutions into their design, considering both natural and artificial sources.
Week 6:
The student will examine how cultural and societal trends influence interior design, incorporating relevant insights into their project. They will refine their design to reflect user-centric and inclusive principles.
Week 7:
The student will complete their design proposal, integrating all elements, including layouts, materials, and lighting. They will prepare a reflective narrative explaining their design choices and the research process.
Week 8:
The student will polish their project, incorporating feedback from mentors. They will create a professional presentation or portfolio showcasing their work, highlighting its theoretical and practical contributions to the field of interior design.
